Forever changed by our trip to Peru for the Lord!

Last leg!

On the plane, ready to taxi! NC here we come!

In Atlanta ready to wait ...

We left Lima about 20 minutes early, so we were able to make it to our gate easily. A few of us are ready for a nap in our own beds! See you in Charlotte!

Movie night with the boys in Ica

We watched a movie tonight with the boys for our last night with them. Such fun!

Water truck delivery

Tuesday afternoon, we rode out to a developing part of the city. Much of Ica was impacted by an earthquake several years ago. Some families have rebuilt while other homes are still rubble. As the rebuilding and expansion progress, utilities follow. We took a tanker truck of drinking water out to several families who are still outside the utilities border. Quite an experience.

Chocolate factory

Hope what we bought makes it all the way to Charlotte!

The dunes and oasis!

Several of us climbed a dune, walked the ridge, and then flew down to the bottom while others walked among the shops and around the oasis.

Birthday cake!

One of the boys had a birthday recently, too, so the cook made birthday cakes for all!!

Field day in Ica

We played games and ran relays with the boys here in Ica, then spent the rest of the afternoon just playing and getting to know the boys here.

Mr. Nerness would be so proud...

Trevor, Lenny, and Ryan practiced some wrestling moves with Heather as ref. But the surprise winner was...

... Mr. Horton!!

"I felt like a bale of hay. "

And the birthday party continues...

Sir Scott and McKee were treated to a piece of cake and an American birthday sing a long!

Lunch at Roky's!

The best chicken ever!

Church in Ica

We were welcomed to a wonderful Peruvian church this morning. Great time of praise and worship then Billy translated the sermon.

Birthday morning!

Sir Scott and McKee both were greeted by a water balloon birthday surprise this morning!

We are off to church where Billy will translate for us and then to lunch in town. Have a wonderful Lord's Day!

Made it to Ica!

We settled in and then were treated to a welcome presentation by the boys here. We had a wonderful dinner, and then Mr. Mickey led us through our devotion book to this point. The students shared what they have learned so far and sang praise songs.

Foraging for Food

Joe was able to forage some protein for our lunch as Kenon supervised! (Just kidding, Melody!)

From the Mountains to the Coast in Less Than One Day!

We stopped at Kawai for lunch on our way to Ica. Kawai is owned by Scripture Union and is a camping/conference center for ministry groups. Kawai is located on beautiful beach front within an hour of Lima on the Pan-American Highway.

On our way to Ica

We will meet another group of boys and have field day, go to church, and deliver water from a water truck to a settlement while in Ica. More later!

Bus ride down the mountain

Everyone settled in for the trip down the mountain. We rode a double-decker bus!

Our last night with the boys in Kusi

We have made such good friends. We will miss them!!

Field Day in Kusi

The students planned lots of activities for the boys. Competition was stiff!

Lunch is served!

The kitchen crew has worked for two days getting our meal prepared to cook today. The food was wrapped and cooked in hot coals in a rock pit all morning. Oh, my! Amazing!
