As a self-proclaimed thrill seeker, I freely admit that I actually enjoy a little bit of turbulence from time to time. Small planes, of course, add greatly to this effect. (I am convinced we took up at least half, if not more, of the coach section.) However, I will admit that that landing was especially rough – thirty seconds of violent shaking around in a plane are a bit much even for me.
Thankfully, after a short one-hour flight, we have finally arrived
in Newark, New Jersey, which is unfortunately further away from our destination
than we started. Although everyone is very tired after an early morning – a morning
especially early for the average American teenager, we managed to make it to our
gate and onto the plane with minimal amounts of Starbucks and Cinnabon.
Logistically,
moving over 20 teenagers and 40 suitcases can be a bit of a stretch, but by God’s
grace everything (and everyone) appears to have made it (so far). We’ll have a
few hours to kill in the glorious state of New Jersey before boarding our next
flight to Lima, Peru. Plans include practicing our VBS (or EBS in Spanish) song
routines, grabbing lunch, and, of course, napping. Continue to pray for safe
travels as we still have a long way to go before arriving in Peru!
